{ok, I couldn't wait...}

I had to "fix it" now.  (see previous post for the source of my obsession)
After making a latte I had a
couple of more minutes in me to give it a quick try.
It worked and I do like it better

{Windows, Windows and more Windows...}

So I had an idea.  Now that I have quilted and framed the little photo quilt
from this post.  Which I like well enough but it's not wow!
The photo is a door knob which is a part of a house.
I thought why not make the whole house.
I would make 3 separately framed quilts that would  be
hung together as a single house.
The bottom would represent the door
The middle frame would be a window
And the top triangular frame the roof.
So here are the candidates for the window quilt
This top photo, which was the last one I created has the lead at the moment
After creating the photo below I created this one which was the fave when I did it.
But after creating the top one I don't like this one so much.
These two were the first and last I created.  The photo above was
the one I liked best but I had a hard time getting much color in it.
After playing with the other two photos I came up with the one below.
Which has a close lead for favorite.  Later I may try and
sharpen it up a bit before I decide which one to go with.  OR not -
as this one  looks kind of dreamy
the roof photo will have to wait.  I need to get off this computer.
It's a love hate kind of thing

{Why I Wake Early...}

Why I Wake Early ~ Mary Oliver

Hello, sun in my face.
Hello, you who made the morning
and spread it over the fields
and into the faces of the tulips
and the nodding morning glories,
and into the windows of, even, the
miserable and the crotchety –
best preacher that ever was,
dear star, that just happens
to be where you are in the universe
to keep us from ever-darkness,
to ease us with warm touching,
to hold us in the great hands of light –
good morning, good morning, good morning.
Watch, now, how I start the day
in happiness, in kindness.

{new fiber experiments...}

So you might ask what is all the PSE about from
a fiber artist's blog?
This is why.  I am building a inventory of altered
photos to use in my fiber art.  The  altered photo from last
week has now been printed on a sheer fabric shown below.
As I am in the experimenting what if-ing stage and I didn't have
any freezer wrap on hand to adhere the sheer fabric to for
printing.  So I used an image transfer sheet instead.
It came out a bit raggy and was distorted after transferring
to the sheer fabric.  But it ironed out flat.  So all in all not to bad.
The raggy part has an appeal all to itself.  Which I like.

Below
is the original altered photo transferred to cotton fabric, pieced
to create a mini art quilt top.
I usually print directly on the cotton fabric but again
experiment what if-ing with new things I did a transfer instead.
It does change the hand of the fabric more but again not
necessarily a bad thing for my purposes
Below
 is the mini art quilt with the sheer fabric image laying over
the top of the cotton fabric image.
 This process is known as a holographic looking image.
I am not sure this is the best photo for this process as the original
photo already has sort of a ghostly affect to it.  The sheer may just
be too much.  Then again I haven't worked with this before so I'm
still not sure which I like best.
Either way I will be quilting the top here soon.

{glad I stuck with PSE...}

I have wanted to do something with a door for a while
but had many failed attempts.
Finally I have one a really like
I have already transfer it to fabric and will make a small
art quilt with it.
I like this so much I think I will make a new blog banner from it.

{delight in the ordinary...}

This could be a bit much but I'm on a mission
to try out new photos for the canvas art I want to
complete for this fall.
This way I can get comments from you all and
from my sister who lives 1500 miles away.

[one little butterfly ...}

And so many options
It's hard to pick which one I like best.
or with words or without words?
And what words?
Even neutrals are so lovely

{echo} Week 20 - Splash

{Echo} Week 20 - Splash
Without advanced discussion on what photos my partner Marty, and I
were planning to use.  Imagine my delight and surprise when I saw
her chosen photo.
My photo is the top one.
 My birds are shy about having their pictures taken
so at least half of them flew away before I could get the picture taken.
I have to fill this fountain a couple of times a day as my little
feathered friends SPLASH it all out.  They look like they are
having soooooooooooo much fun.

Here in the mountains of central Arizona water can be a bit
hard to come by.  Both for the birds and for photos needing the
theme of splash.

Stop by  Marty's site to see more about her photo

{Another PSE Photo for the collection...}

Spent a bit more time then I wanted to get this one.

It's not that this photo took all that much time it's the several
before this that didn't work out like I wanted that took so
much time.
No matter how much fun you are having in
PSE there comes a point where enough is enough.
And I'm there.

{Photoshop TIme...}

Gathering a collection of possible photos to print on fabric
and mount for the November Les Femmes show
So far I think this one has a good chance of making it into
the collection.

{Think 20 degrees...}

It's been 90 degress or more lately
but still felt like knitting up a little something.
I think Tis Gallery will also take this hat for the
Black and White show coming up

{How to be Alone...}

Surfing the blogs and found this on Christi's site.

I love being alone.  They are the most precious moments in life.
I love spending time alone at home, in my garden, in the forest, in the mountains, on the lake, almost any and everywhere,
even long drives to nowhere.
I have gone on vacations alone, to the movies, out to eat,
and even out dancing (although it's been awhile since I did that)
In fact I love being alone so much I sometimes
have to force myself to go out and be with friends.
I always have a good time when I go out with friends
it's not that I don't have fun.  But solitude is
something so much more.

{New Portrait...}

Practice with darker colors and layering.
I'm feeling a bit more confident and just started layering
one layer of paint over another and another.  Also painting with the eyes
lowered.  I have waited to do closed eyes until I had some
practice painting eyes.  I didn't want to get stuck only painting "no eyes".
