How Perfect Life Is

Here another journal page. It is a photo from ellemoss's shop on Etsy. I printed it on fabric so the colors a bit more muted then the original. With free motion stitching around the edge. Which also adds to the otherside. And I really needed to add another color. The pink was getting to be tooooooo much.

I like how the stitching used on the reverse side adds dimension to this page too. A "twofur". It's amazing how much I can get done when I get to stay home. I just love being at home. I even like to clean my house. But only after playing first. How "Alice" of me. ;-) Lovin Life.

PonDErings and MUsingS

Here is another page. I wanted to get this page done last weekend but it didn't work out that way. It was perfect I didn't get to it. I didn't have the pictures last weekend. I got them yesterday from a friend who brought me the Anthropologie catalog. With this teapot and mushrooms in it. How perfect for this journal. Now It's complete.

I hope to be home at least a little bit this weekend to do more pages. Perhaps I will put the spine on the front and back covers of the journal today. That should not take all that long. Then I need to start the commission quilt project that I have. It is a couple of pieces of batik fabric that was bought in Indonesia.

Croquet with the Queen

Another page to the journal on "Alice". It's a quilted flamingo. And will be THE page. The legs are off to the side so that I can attach them across the spine of the book and will show up later in the back of the book. I love doing surprise pages. They are sooooooooo fun. Especially when you can view and turn them for yourself. They are so unexpected. I first had this experience at dj pettitt workshop. Not what I grew up reading. And perfect for a book based on Alice in Wonderland? Not sure what page it will be yet so check back later to see it finished. I am off to my art group ( more on that to come) but have another page in mind ready to begin which I hope to complete later today.

Down the rabbit hole.

It is difficult to put into words what a picture can say. The reader can only interpret them in there own way. As I have done when I select the images to include in this journal on "Alice". We already know them so well. We are living them or perhaps more correctly, we are dreaming them. These are the symbols of a vast collective consciousness. It is we who choose everyday which thoughts we will emphasis and these form the experiences of our lives.
It reads
" Possible is as impossible does and the impossible isn't?
And vise verse.
And if it is so,
it might be;
and if it were so,
it would be;
but as it isn't,
so it ain't"

Art journaling outside back cover

This will be the outside back cover. I really like this clock fabric I found this weekend. It was perfect for this journal. I was already thinking it would need lots of black and white. to go with the pinks. I've got the inside back cover started but not so sure how I want to finish it yet.

Art journaling cont.

I plan to create the inside and outside of the back cover to my art journal. Hopeful today. Otherwise it will have to be next week. I'm thinking I want to use the black and white clock fabric I have along with some swirly or flat multi circle fabric "roses" And maybe some lace or doily.

31 days of art journal with misty mawn, continues

Here is the inside front cover for my journal base on Alice in Wonderland.
It reads
How queer everything is.
I wonder if I have been changed in the night?
But if I am not the same
the next question is.
Who in the world am I.
Ahhhh - that's the great question

This is soooooo cool

My blog is only a little over a week old and I already have comments. Thanks everyone "-)

I have a day job where I work 4 - 11 hour days. They are long days and I don't have much time during the week to blog and create. So most of my blog time will be on the weekends. I do plan to keep in touch with all the really great people out there in the blog ethers.

So here is a little sneak peek of what else I have in store for my blog. Besides art journaling, which I am new too , I am a fiber artist. I have being creating with fiber, ie sewing, most of my life. Here is the first of many art quilts. This first piece is the piece I use on my business cards. Enjoy :-) All of the quilts I post are for sale. Unless of course they have already sold. I will note this in the posts. Just email me if you are interested in purchasing
Now back to the art journaling. I need to start creating the pages for my journal. But where will I find the time?????? I have the PFAA gallery opening tonight. But wait maybe I will snap some photos for the blog. Better check with the gallery to make sure it's ok to photograph other peoples art and post it. At least I can show my piece. OH, soooooooo many things to learn about blogging. Please indulge me with all the font color changes (for awhile) as it is one of the things I know how to do.

New Art Journal

This is one of my face paintings. I have never been able to draw let alone paint faces before taking a workshop with dj pettitt . She was wonderful. If she can teach me how to paint a face she can teach anyone. It still takes me 6 times longer than her - yet I am getting it. Thanks again dj. I am using this painting as the first of the art journal pages for the 31 days of art journaling challenge with Misty Mawn. I will use it for Ex Libris art show coming up at PFAA in March. Which I am also co-curating with Deb and Cathy. I plan to make the book base on Alice in Wonderland.

Don't give up yet

OK,

Don't give

up yet.

You have

managed

to move

your profile

up to the

top of the page

:-)

Setting up the blog

Setting up the blog was the easy part. Now how do I change the header from the few default fonts and add a picture? I have no clue. I think I need to use the Html "thing" but have no clue how to do that and the help menus are no help. And how do you maintain a blog and work full time too. I can add photo with alot of effort. I don't seem to be able to browse directly to my Photoshop and just pick a picture. I have to first choose a photo and go to edit in order to save it to a different file in order to choose it to download and add to this blog. This may need to use Photo Bucket, or possible this is what Flickr is for.

Brand new Blog

Brand New year, brand new blog. Let the journey begin.
